History
SUDWASH (Sustainable Development for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) was founded in 2024 in Gombe, Nigeria, by Aminu Ahmed Yuguda, a Geophysicist and Space Science & Technology Officer, out of a deep concern for the persistent challenges of unsafe water, poor sanitation, and inadequate hygiene in rural and underserved communities.
The idea was born from field experiences that revealed how lack of access to clean water and basic hygiene facilities contributes to disease, poverty, and inequality. Recognizing the need for a sustainable, community-driven response, Aminu brought together professionals from various disciplines health, education, environmental science, and development to form what would become the founding board of SUDWASH.
Since its inception, SUDWASH has been driven by a shared commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). The organization focuses on promoting sustainable water management, hygiene education, and environmental awareness, empowering communities to take ownership of their health and development.
From a small initiative, SUDWASH has grown into a structured organization dedicated to practical solutions combining science, innovation, and community participation to create lasting impact across Nigeria.
